what i had for lunch

Wednesday, January 26, 2005

For a lunch meeting I ordered the tailgate special # 1 from the Q Shack through Raleigh Take Out. The meat (ribs, brisket and bbq) and hush puppies got high marks, but the sides (slaw, tater salad, and baked beans) left something to be desired. I'd do everything exactly the same again though. there wasn't a whole lot of complaints from the staff. It was 15 minutes late. Next time I'd order a large side of Mac & Cheese for Megan, because I think all the potato salad had meat in it.

we were set to have a lunch and learn today on brainstorming. since its my real birthday, i got to pick my favorite pizza for the meeting. i picked banana peppers and pepperoni combo. then a meeting in the conf room ran over so they had to cancel the lunch and learn.

so we all got free pizza with no learning.

and to top it off, its snowing! we are going sledding in a little bit.

got me a little tokyo joe's action cuz i'm trying to eat healthy these days. no mt. dew, either. straight up high-quality h2o. the regular chicken bowl with brown rice, veggies, and spicy-aki sause seems like a relatively healthy thing to eat, and it's not expensive to boot. so go grab yourselves some tokyo joe's; you'll be glad you did. i know i am. glad, that is. i was trying to sound like i was a famous person giving a testamonial on the a.m. radio.

since my office moved i was hoping i would have all kinds of cool new places to eat luch, so far that hasn't really happened as I am a despicable creature of habit. However today i went to a new place with my Dad. It's called the Ghengis Grill. It's was a pretty good mongolian bbq. A little on the pricey side for one bowl and it made my tummy rumble a bit afterward but overall it was really good.

Today megan and elizabeth and i went to the NC MUseum of Art to see the Matisse, Picasso and the School of Paris exhibit. while we were there we ran into my aunt ginny. which was funny cause she lives 2 hours away in winston-salem.

afterwards we went to wendy's to have lunch. megan and elizabeth both had the taco salad, but since megan is a veggie, i ate her chili. for my sandwhich i had a freschetta sandwich- which is not even on their Web site. my sandwhich was on ciabatta and had basil pesto mayo, turkey and red peppers. it also had lettuce. it was actually pretty darn good.

there was a customer there that looked like a cross between bob camicia and ken fowler. megan and i loved looking at him because of this combination and because he seemed to be very kind. he was smiling the whole time he was eating his lunch - which was really nice. then we were astonished when he got up and left his tray and trash on the table.

I went to taco bell for the second day in a row. Yesterday I was "good" and had the salad. Today I was not so good and had a 7-layer and nachos supreme. I had big designs on not eating it all. But then I did anyway and topped it all off with a truffle. cough.

i just went to einstein bagel bros for the last freaking time. those a-holes gave me chips instead of the potato salad like i asked for (i did the drive thru so i didn't realise in time), and last time i was there i waited in line forever only to have them mess up my order completely, and then when i told them i didn't order what they gave me, the chick gave me guff and was quite rude. they're always rude at einstein bagel bros and the sandwiches are sub-par in my opinion.

from the jack daniels grocery & deli I got vegetable beef soup and a salt and pepper potato chips. They spell meat "meet" on their take-out menu. I didn't tell them.
